How important is brand Photography in 2022

Your personal brand depends on you putting your best face forward, it tells a story and that’s the story of you.

Investing in fresh, high quality and relevant images of ourselves is crucial if we want to connect with our audience through marketing channels like Instagram and Facebook. People connect with people, not with brands, and so when you are a small business competing with the masses, connecting with your potential clients on a personal level through pictures of yourself is an absolute must.

According to the Huffington Post, posts on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram that include an image receive 120 – 180% more visibility and engagement.

People do business with people and creating that connection through regular use of images of yourself, or your team creates trust. And trust builds long-lasting relationships, which is what we all want, right?

I would say images of the business owner are one of the biggest hurdles I run into when building websites for my clients. Most people understand the importance of images in creating a strategic and beautiful website and come ready with either professional product shots or some well-thought-out, beautifully curated lifestyle images that represent the services they offer.

When it comes to images of themselves though I usually hit a wall. People don’t have them and usually feel the time and money investment required to get them just isn’t at the top of their list of priorities.

But creating a genuine, authentic and engaging connection with your audience absolutely requires them to see who they’re doing business with!

If you rely on digital marketing for your business in ANY way, then using personal brand photography is vital.

So why can’t I just take pics of myself on my iPhone I hear you ask?

Well, you can! But lesser quality images are going to be reflected in your clients’ view of your business. If you devalue your brand in this way, then your potential clients will lose trust in the quality of what you deliver. Every connection we make with our potential clients will influence the way they think about us and our business.

But organising my own photoshoot is time-consuming and expensive. And frankly, I don’t love getting my photo taken anyway!
