Personal Brand Photography has exploded over the last year or two and getting brand photo’s done for your business is becoming as crucial to your success as a great website is. High-quality, authentic, storytelling imagery is a must if you want to visually promote your brand. First impressions are everything in this digital world and we all shop with our eyes. Not taking full advantage of this in your business is going to cost you money.
So what is Personal Brand Photography and how is it different from the old standard of a professional headshot?
As the role social media plays in promoting business continues to explode, having a visual representation of you, your business and your service/offering have become vital. If you have invested any time or money in reaching an audience through social media or developing a website designed to grow your business, then having the right imagery is crucial.
If a potential client finds you online right now, either via your website or on social media, will the visuals they see convey the right message?
Do your images show your business in the best light? Are they professionally shot, designed to tell a story and represent who you are?
In the old days, having a headshot was really all you needed. One great pic of you on your about page seemed to be enough. But these days, having a suite of imagery available to you for use throughout your website, in blog articles, on social media posts and advertising, in email newsletters, and in printed material can truly make or break a business.
Personal Brand Photography provides you with just that.
A good Personal Brand Photography session should delve into who you are and what your business does. The location, props, and style of images should all be designed in a way that tells the story of your business.
When I first book a client, we have a discovery call to talk about their business and what they would love to achieve from their session. From there we choose a location that suits the feel of them and their business, discuss props that could add to the shoot and talk about different outfits so they can achieve as many looks from the one shoot as possible.
Rather than just one “portrait style” headshot, clients now need images showing all the facets of their business in the best light. Images that show potential clients what working with them might look like.
Every person and every business is different and so no two shoots are the same. But what I try to achieve for all of my clients is imagery that is unique to them and the story they want to tell.
And that, essentially is what personal brand photography is all about. It’s having a visual library of images you can use to make sure you are communicating your business story to the people you want to be connecting with.
Brand photography is just as important for e-commerce businesses. These days so many people use platforms like Instagram to find shops. More and more our buying decisions are being made when surfing social media on our phones, so having those visually impactful images of your product is vital for promoting your business through digital marketing.
This was a shoot I did recently for a client who is building up her social following while she waits for her products to be developed. We used her samples to create a whole suite of incredible images for her to use on Instagram and other social media platforms to help increase her followers, so that when she is ready to launch she has an engaged and excited audience to launch to!
So whether it’s a documentary-style personal brand shoot you need to represent you and the incredible service you offer, or a beautifully styled product shoot to showcase your eCommerce offering, brand photography is what you need to be doing to grow your business through digital marketing.
